By Bruce Broughton. Score. 22 pages. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing.
Following his Oscar-nominated score for Silverado and subsequent popular works like Young Sherlock Holmes and The Boy Who Could Fly, composer Bruce Broughton was firmly ensconced on the Hollywood A-List when it came to scoring 1987’s Harry and the Hendersons.
This end credits sequence which covers a broad summary of the main thematic ideas in the score, including the sparkling pastiche Mozart of the main title theme, was ultimately unused in the movie, being replaced by the original song “Love Lives On” by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil and Will Jennings, performed by the inimitable Joe Cocker.
Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!
