James Horner's "THE ROCKETEER" in Full Score
James Horner's "THE ROCKETEER" in Full Score
Reuniting with director Joe Johnston, following 1989’s Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, James Horner finally achieves his goal of scoring a motion picture about flying. Until 1991’s The Rocketeer, Horner had always managed to “miss out” on projects relating to his passion for flight. The Rocketeer presented the perfect vehicle for him, and the resulting score is one of the finest he ever wrote. Bristling with energy and exuberance, the score is almost Wagnerian in its use of motifs.
As well as the orchestral score featuring exquisite orchestrations by John Neufeld, Elliot Kaplan and Conrad Pope, this edition also includes the unique opportunity to study five jazz standards which were specially arranged and orchestrated for The Rocketeer by the legendary Billy May.
390 pages, 9x12 inches. Paperbound, printed in the U.K.

Very happy with the score - high quality book. Only (very minor) concern is a slight crease in top corner of the last third of the pages. Happens in transit, can't be helped. Still, I'm very pleased with the score - was so happy to learn that it was available. (What are the chances of producing a score for "Quigley Down Under" or "Fly Away Home"?)
I've been a fan of the music of James Horner, and of this score in particular, for many years. I was delighted when I found that Chris had engraved this beautiful edition of the score! This is the third Chris Siddall score I have purchased, and all of them are clearly and beautifully rendered, seem to be extremely accurate, and in general show a love of the music and the craft of music engraving. Chris has managed to create a layout that does not feel cramped or busy despite the large number of staves required by this orchestra. That takes time, experience and an artistic eye - congratulations on a beautiful piece of work! Also, Also, the thematic and cue analyses by Erik Heine are helpful and interesting additions!
Quick delivery, score as advertised.
Excellent! Perfect! Essential!
My Lord, what a book this is! The Rocketeer happens to be my favorite film score, period. And if this 400-page, excessively detailed, beautifully designed and printed book doesn't do it justice, then nothing ever will. Just excellent work all around. Thank you, and congratulations on publishing this masterpiece, Chris!
