A really impressive achievement. Brilliant reference for some of Herrmann’s more abstruse scoring techniques and, for not having to read the original m.s. A huge thank you.
The transcribed Suite from Psycho is a very accurate and fun learning tool. Just as Bach copied Vivaldi's music to gain better knowledge as to how he scored we, too, can gain insight into how Herrmann scored. Bravo, Chris!
I emailed Chris Siddall in advance of ordering this, looking for more detail on the latter movements, asking how authentic and at what level they are. He got back to me quickly saying that he's been working from the original (autograph?) score and keeping things pretty much note-for-note. My purchased copy, very clearly typeset and formatted, has the authenticity I'm looking for. It matches the "psycho suite" that I find on YouTube.
Authentic transcriptions, note for note... Excellent!!!
